Subnautica 2 Atlas map, resources, and co-op guide
Abyss Atlas is an unofficial Subnautica 2 Atlas built like a polished dive console: interactive map layers, fast resource lookup, blueprint paths, safe routes, base scouting, co-op planning, and source-checked update notes. Unknown data stays clearly marked until it is confirmed.

Official Short gives the Hammerhead another source-safe spotlight
The official Subnautica YouTube channel posted a 20-second Short, “Be aware of these common misconceptions! #subnautica2”. The practical takeaway is cautious creature context, not a new patch: the clip labels the featured creature as “HAMMERHEAD!” and uses joke/caution captions that build from “If your friend...” through “Values personal space,” “Has a special interest,” and “Rams their face into basically everything” to “That’s not your friend.” Sampled frames show shallow reef scenery, a seated Pioneer/character looking out through a base window, a gag scene filled with small colorful fish-like creatures indoors, and the large orange-and-teal Hammerhead swimming in blue water and reef shots. Because the Short has no description and shows no HUD data, scan card, biome label, route, damage value, countermeasure, balance note, or update timing, keep it as official Hammerhead risk/comedy footage until Unknown Worlds publishes fuller mechanics or patch details.
Official Short frames Subnautica 2 footage as a 90s sitcom gag
The official Subnautica YouTube channel posted a 32-second Short, “The gang’s all here! Tag yourself 👇”. The source-safe takeaway is light visual context, not a patch or guide mechanic: visible official footage uses sitcom-style captions such as “What if Subnautica 2 was a 90’s sitcom?”, “The Expendable Pioneer”, and “The Reliable Friend Who Definitely Won’t Kill Me.” Sampled frames show an orange eyestalk-like creature on a sandy seabed with yellow plant clusters, a suited Pioneer/character closeup, a large underwater creature silhouette in blue water, and a Subnautica 2 title card. The video has no description and does not show HUD data, scan labels, creature names, item names, biome names, behavior rules, recipes, patch notes, co-op changes, platform timing, or update timing. Treat it as official comedy/creature-footage watch context until Unknown Worlds publishes a fuller explanation.
Hotfix 4 fixes Angel Combs progression, base currents, Xbox FOV, and crashes
Unknown Worlds’ fourth Early Access hotfix has arrived and may take time to roll out worldwide, with Xbox availability following certification. The important player-facing fixes are practical: Angel Combs should no longer fail to open for some players and block progression, player bases should no longer get water currents that affect movement, trap players, or prevent building and expansion, and the FOV slider should show correctly on Xbox once the hotfix reaches that platform. The hotfix also fixes an Xbox crash when joining a session invite, a crash related to creature spawning, and two other low-volume crashes. If you use mods, Unknown Worlds says to temporarily disable, remove, or uninstall them before launching after the hotfix because community mods may crash or behave unexpectedly until mod creators update them.

Unknown Worlds’ launch post points players to Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox/Microsoft Store now that Early Access is available; Steam’s current app data shows the standalone Subnautica 2 purchase path, the Deep Ocean Bundle with the earlier games, the Sub-Sonic Edition bundle that packages Subnautica 2 with the official soundtrack, and the separate soundtrack DLC.
Unknown Worlds aired the May 9, 2026 pre-launch showcase and published the official Early Access Gameplay Trailer afterward, giving players the cleanest current video to watch before launch.
Unknown Worlds’ May 15 Early Access roadmap says the first post-launch update focuses on quality-of-life fixes, the second update targets requested co-op improvements and additions, and a later larger drop is planned for more world, biomes, creatures, resources, tools, vehicles, and story.
Unknown Worlds’ June 4 Swimming Forward dev vlog previewed the shift from rapid launch hotfixes toward EA1.1 and longer-term work on creature tuning, biomod/passive-slot improvements, wreck gameplay, Blight clarity, voice-log replay and VO priority, co-op emotes/proximity voice chat, expanded customization, and a future Collector Leviathan region with a new stomp-style vehicle chassis.
Unknown Worlds’ July 14 Hotfix 4 is the latest official hotfix and may take time to roll out worldwide, with Xbox availability after certification. It fixes Angel Combs not opening for some players and blocking progression, water currents appearing inside player bases, the FOV slider not showing on Xbox, an Xbox session-invite crash, a creature-spawn crash, and two other low-volume crashes; mod users should temporarily disable mods until creators update them.
Unknown Worlds’ July 8 official patch notes make EA1.1 Adaptive Measures the major-update baseline beneath Hotfix 4. Confirmed changes include a FOV slider, smoother early Biomod progression, two more Biolabs, six total Biomod unlocks, additional passive Biomod slots from creature scans, out-of-water sprinting, more wreck traversal and oxygen puzzles, creature flee/dizzy feedback for Survival Multitool and Sonic Resonator use, Bloom encounter tuning, more Coral Gardens Silver support, Vehicle Dock / Fabricator placement improvements, a storage buildable excluded from nearby crafting, replayable PDA audiologs, and broad bug/performance/UI/multiplayer fixes.
The official Subnautica YouTube channel’s July 9 community-highlights post says Early Access players have logged 58,451,204 combined hours, travelled 545,615,747 km, started far more solo than multiplayer sessions, and most often reprinted from oxygen loss, wildlife damage, and dehydration; treat those as community-scale context, not new balance or route rules.
Unknown Worlds’ June 1 Hotfix 3 fixes DLSS crashes, DLSS settings, and Frame Generation availability, upgrades DLSS to version 4.5, cuts Interior Wall costs, changes Hammerhead and flare behavior, tunes Marrowbreaches and Nibblers, and fixes startup, multiplayer rejoin, Strike Armor, and Tadpole passenger-view bugs.
Unknown Worlds’ May 22 Hotfix 2 adds more Silver and Troilite resource areas, adjusts Hammerhead behavior around Tadpole lights, fixes Tadpole teleport/oxygen issues plus multiplayer and late-game crashes, improves Epic visual-setting performance, and clarifies telemetry and policy prompts.
Unknown Worlds’ May 20 community letter says upcoming patches will work on creature aggression timing, aggro range, flare effectiveness, Survival Tool effectiveness, and creature interactions with vehicles and bases while keeping Subnautica centered on vulnerability, exploration, and survival rather than traditional weapon combat.
Unknown Worlds’ May 19 Hotfix 1 targets AMD/DirectX 12 startup guidance, an infrequent Ping crash, analytics consent timing, and backend data volume.
The official Subnautica support video and AMD’s 26.6.1 release notes now point RX 9000-series players with the specific startup/intermittent crash issue to AMD Adrenalin 26.6.1 rather than the older 26.3.1 rollback workaround.
PC Gamer’s July 9 sales/update coverage reports Subnautica 2 has surpassed 5 million copies sold, extending the earlier 2 million / 12-hour and 4 million / first-week milestones and reinforcing that launch-build feedback, co-op discoveries, and bug reports are moving at very high volume.
Steam lists the Subnautica 2 Original Soundtrack as available paid music DLC at the current soundtrack app page, with Ben Prunty credited as composer and more tracks planned through Early Access; this is useful media context, not a gameplay or patch-note change.
Unknown Worlds’ final pre-launch dev vlog says the May 14 build is the studio’s biggest Early Access starting point so far, with smaller updates expected in year one and larger additions planned for year two.
The official pre-launch events post says showcase viewers could earn a Seamoth Statue Twitch Drop, and the May 11 Steam update says every player across every platform receives the Reaper Leviathan Statue blueprint from Early Access launch onward.

The official Alterra Career Event says a Lost River Poster blueprint unlocks for all players if the community reaches 100,000 applications during the event period.
The Reaper Leviathan Statue blueprint is now a platform-wide Early Access launch reward rather than a first-week-only purchase bonus, after Subnautica 2 reached 5 million Steam wishlists.
Steam lists Windows 10/11 minimum specs with 12 GB RAM, 50 GB storage, and a GTX 1660 / RX 5500 XT class GPU; Steam also exposes Steam Deck Verified compatibility data, with an external-controller caveat for the primary player on Deck.
